Many common questions are answered below. If there is anything we have forgotten, please contact us on 020 3034 5010 with any questions you may have, or to chat in general about your child’s needs.

Q. Are you Ofsted registered?
A. Our centre is an Ofsted registered tuition centre. You can be confident that your child will be educated in a safe and secure environment.  We ensure that our policies and procedures are fully aligned with Ofsted regulations.

Q. Who are your teachers?
A. All our teachers have up-to-date CRB checks and are British-trained and fully-qualified, with many years’ experience teaching in local schools. Some have training in Dyslexia and other Special Needs. We have teachers who specialise in the 11+, GCSEs and A’Levels. The right teacher will be chosen for your child’s specific needs.

Q. Will you come to my home?
A. We believe that Centre-based tuition is preferable to home-based and for this reason all tuition takes place in our Centre in Tooting, where we have our own huge range of unique resources and equipment available to ensure the best possible teaching. Each child has their own modern online computer and comfortable workstation – usually the same one each week – with access to any materials they may need throughout the session. You are assured of your child’s safety at all times, and they also benefit from the social aspect of the session environment, through meeting other children who are also having tuition. You are able to wait in the Waiting Room of the Centre if you wish, and this is sometimes preferable in the early stages for a very young child.

Q. What ages do you teach?
A. We take children from age 5 to young adult. Any child may attend, providing they are able to take care of their basic physical needs and have adequate communication skills.

Q. What subjects do you teach?
A. We teach English and Maths from 5 to 18, 11+ and 13+ preparation and also Science at GCSE and A’Level. For the youngest, we have an early reading programme and an early maths programme. Both these have been specially written by experts for exclusive use in our Centre. For the next age group we teach Reading, Writing, Spelling, Comprehension and Maths. Again, our programmes of work are unique and specially written by our experts. For the older children working towards exams we teach English, Maths and Science to A’Level. We also provide full support for the 11+ and 13+, including maths, English, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Please see the subject pages for more details.

Q. Do you teach Home-Schooled children?
A.  Our tuition is ideal for children who are studying at home, as it provides a learning environment with other children, which may be missing at home. We link with the school curriculum, so if you enrol your home-schooled child with us for Maths and English you can be assured they will cover the essential material required for the National Curriculum in an effective and sensitive way. We can also help with preparation for the GCSE exams in English and Maths. You may wish to phone to discuss the possibilities.

Q. How long are the sessions?
A. elite wholesale nfl jerseys Each session in the Centre is 60 minutes long, and is made up of a variety of activities, usually starting and ending with a computer activity. During the course of the session your child will be given both traditional and computer-based work to do. Younger children have a greater number of shorter activities, and older ones will spend longer on each task, as appropriate to their age and stage of development. At the end of each session the teacher will chat with you about their progress and you have the opportunity to ask questions.

Q. Is it one-to-one tuition?
A. Yes, we provide one-to-one tuition within a small group setting. There is no group tuition. Your child will always be given full attention by their teacher, and will be able to ask questions as much as they want. They will follow their own customised programme of study, with the teacher at hand, but with the encouragement of knowing that other children are working hard too. The small group will range from 5-7. The atmosphere in the Centre is calm and focussed, and the children have shown us over the years that they learn better in very small groups than when taught one-to-one. For a discussion of why this is the case, see Small Group Tuition.

Q. Do you have a programme for dyslexia or ADHD?
A. Yes. Built in to our teaching philosphy are many strategies which are highly effective for children who have mild ADHD or dyslexia. We also have a special teaching resource which has been written for children with literacy problems such as dyslexia, which works very well. In addition, we have physical learning aids in the Centre, such as coloured overlays, abacuses and keyboard aids, which are available as needed.

Q. What about Gifted Children?
A. Gifted children are often frustrated at school. We can offer them a programme of extension work which will lessen their feeling of being stifled. Teachers in schools often struggle to extend a gifted child, and for many such children a weekly session at our Centre can be a welcome opportunity to tackle more interesting work. Please call us to discuss your cheap nfl jerseys specific needs.

Q. When are you open?
A. Please see our Contact us page.

Q. What if I have to miss a session?
A. If you need to rearrange a session you can reschedule either by phoning the Centre wholesale football jerseys or going to your online account. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Tuition at our Centre is better value than a home tutor. For Monthly Members the sign-up price will be guaranteed for life – as long as you come continuously for sessions. Please see our fees page for current rates.

Q. How long does my child need to stay?
A. This obviously varies enormously from child to child, depending on your goals and the starting point. We will always give an honest opinion to help you decide whether to continue with tuition.

Q. Is there a contract?
We do not commit you to a contract with a minimum term. We ask for one full calendar month’s notice. Please see the Terms & Conditions for full details.

Q. How will you know it’s working?
A. Improvement in your child will be seen almost straight away, depending, of course, on the starting point, the age and level of your child. Going up a set or two at school, and being able to cope with homework often happens quite quickly after starting with us. Younger children show the fastest improvement, but the key to ensuring that our tuition is most effective for your child whatever their age is regular attendance. Commitment to a session once a week shows your child you are serious about helping them, and gives them a boost right away. Once your child begins to find learning fun – and theywill, once they start to succeed – then they will be happier and more focussed in general.

Q. Can I have another Assessment?
A. Your child is being continuously assessed and their progress monitored by their teacher. They will give you a verbal progress report at the end of each session, so you will know how well your child is doing without needing further full Assessments. If, however, you would like a progress update, you can ask your child’s teacher to do a mini-assessment in the session. This is free and you may wish to have the mini-assessment done to confirm changes in reading age, maths progress etc. We recommend no more than once every six months for this mini-assessment. It will take up about half an hour out of a regular session. Should you require a follow-up full Assessment at a later date for a specific purpose you can book it by phoning the Centre. Full Assessments cost £95 and include an emailed summary of our findings.

Q. Do you offer refunds?
A. We cannot offer refunds for sessions that are missed, due to the narrow margins and the administrative costs involved in providing our service.

Q. What should I know about coming to the Assessment?
A. You need bring no special equipment to the Assessment. It is best if at least one parent can attend with the child, for the purposes of discussing the results at the end. If this is impossible, we can feed back to you by phone after the Assessment is finished. We do have a comfortable waiting area with toys for you to wait in while the Assessment takes place should you have to bring a younger child along. You can park outside the building.
